A Message from Our Principal
The Principal
Aurora Preparatory Academy
As both a parent and an educator at APA, I bring a deeply personal and professional connection to the life of our school. With a child who has grown up here at APA, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the dedication, passion, and care that our staff and faculty pour into each day. This is a place where children feel safe to explore who they are, pursue their interests, and grow with confidence. I have seen my own child inspired in remarkable ways, academically, athletically, artistically, and socially, and I know that this growth is rooted in the strength and warmth of the APA community.
“APA is more than a school. It is a place where children are supported, challenged, and celebrated.”
What Sets APA Apart
At Aurora Preparatory Academy, the child always comes first - before programs, before prestige, before anything else. These four principles are the foundation of everything we do.
“We ask ourselves one question about every decision we make: is this what's best for the child in front of us?”

Small by Design
Every class stays intentionally small so teachers can truly know each child: their curiosity, their pace, and their spark.
Individualized Attention
Support and challenge are calibrated to each student individually. No one falls through the cracks. No one waits to be noticed.
Academic Rigour
We set the bar high because we believe every child is capable of more than they think. We just make sure they never have to climb alone.
Belonging
At APA, students are not faces in a hallway. They are welcomed, celebrated, and genuinely missed when absent.
Academics
APA delivers the Ontario curriculum through small classes, close teacher relationships, and a genuine commitment to meeting each student exactly where they are. Whether a child needs support or is ready to reach beyond grade level, APA prepares every student for success in secondary school and beyond.
Fully aligned to the Ontario curriculum with rich programming across all core subjects from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8.
Dedicated support for students below grade-level expectations, with early identification and family collaboration at every step.
Meaningful technology integration that enhances learning without replacing the fundamentals. Students develop digital literacy alongside traditional skills.
French language and music programming begin in Junior Kindergarten, building confidence, communication, and creative expression from the earliest years.
French
French language instruction begins in Junior Kindergarten, giving students years of immersive exposure to build genuine fluency, confidence, and cultural awareness. Conversation, reading, and writing are woven into every year of the program.
Music
Music begins in Junior Kindergarten with instruments, vocal performance, and theory. Students build confidence on stage through concerts, the school musical, and theatre, discovering a lifelong relationship with creative expression.
Student Life
At APA, learning extends well beyond the curriculum. Students participate in a rich variety of activities, events, and experiences that shape who they become.
Intramurals, SSAF sports teams, skating, and swimming keep students active and build teamwork and resilience from an early age.
A variety of arts, citizenship, and skill-based clubs give students the chance to explore interests beyond the regular curriculum.
Educational field trips connect classroom learning to real-world experiences, from local community visits to broader explorations.
From the school musical and Music Night to the Welcome Back Barbecue and Family Breakfast, life at APA is full of memorable moments.
Grade 7 and 8 students celebrate their senior years with a special graduation trip, marking the milestone with shared adventure.
Date Night, Parents' Morning Coffee, Mother's Day and Father's Day Socials bring the APA family together throughout the year.

Community and Belonging
At APA, students move through the grades together, building genuine relationships across age groups. Older students mentor younger ones. Teachers know each child well. Families feel genuinely welcomed. This is a place where belonging is not a program; it is simply how things are.
Global Citizenship
APA students develop a sense of global responsibility through meaningful charitable efforts. The school supports the Dekpor School Development Organization, raising funds and awareness through bake sales, dance-a-thons, and community French Cafes, instilling a spirit of contribution and compassion.
